- Why is my GP not recommending LIGHT THERAPY?

here could be a number of reasons.
It could be linked to whether or not you are suffering from photosensitivity. Photosensitivity (sensitisation to light) is a common side effect of various medications and some herbal remedies as well. You should not use light therapy if you suffer from photosensitivity.
LED Light Therapy has not been tested with pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, so your GP or midwife may recommend you only start your treatment after the breastfeeding period.
They may recommend against Light Therapy if:
- you have a history of porphyria, solar urticaria, chronic actinic dermatitis, photosensitivity.
- they find any suspicious or cancerous lesions.
- you are taking Amiodarone.
- you are taking any photosensitising treatment.
- you are over or near a recent steroid injection.
- you suspect that you have had an adverse/allergic reaction.

DO NOT look directly at the LED screen when it is switched on.
DO NOT place LUSTRE® ClearSkin over the eyes, or where the light will shine into the eyes during treatment.
- LUSTRE® ClearSkin has left a darker mark on my skin?

A rare pigment darkening can occur immediately after the treatment. It is caused by visible wavelengths i.e. blue light, is temporary and completely harmless. It is commonly seen in darker skin types and usually fades in 48 hours. It is thought to be due to reversible oxidation of existing melanin and is not new melanin (which would last much longer). The bacteria continue to be killed, and the temporary discolouration is nothing to be concerned about.
- Can the LUSTRE® ClearSkin SOLO and TRIO be used on other parts of the body, i.e. back and chest?

Yes – you can use your LUSTRE® ClearSkin device on any part of the body affected by acne.
- Is LUSTRE® ClearSkin suitable for all skin types?
-
Yes. LUSTRE® ClearSkin is suitable for all skin types. However, a small number of people have a skin type* which is more sensitive to the normal level of adhesion of the LUSTRESTRIPS.
The best way to check whether your skin is more sensitive is to carry out a short test before your first treatment:
- Attach a LUSTRESTRIP to a LUSTRE® ClearSkin device and place on your inner forearm, just below the elbow. The LUSTRE® ClearSkin treatment head should be switched on and left in place for at least 20 minutes before being removed carefully by lifting from one edge.
If there is any discomfort, then we recommend applying a very small amount of non-comedogenic moisturising cream to the skin before attaching LUSTRESTRIP next time and this will normally solve the problem. Because of the strength of the adhesive, with 20 mins sessions, temporary marks can occur. These marks are only temporary and will disappear progressively and naturally.
*Fitzpatrick Skin Types V and VI can use the device safely, however we strongly recommend to assess your skin carefully after each session, there is an increased risk of pigmentation on those skin types.
- Are there any side effects I should be concerned about?

The LUSTRE® ClearSkin Technology is a natural therapy and there are no known side effects. However, in some instance, people might be prone to a temporary skin hyperpigmentation. Darker skin types are more prone to hyperpigmentation and occasionally can get hyperpigmentation with this device but it settles spontaneously. The hyperpigmentation is thought to be due to oxidation of existing melanin and not new melanin production. It generally settles within 48 hours.

- How can the stickiness of the adhesive LUSTRESTRIPS be reduced?

There is one recommended method for reducing the adhesion of the strips. A small amount of non-comedogenic moisturising cream should be applied directly to the skin immediately before application of the adhesive strips. The exact amount of cream required is dependent upon the need to reduce the adhesion. In ALL cases the white cream should NOT be visible on the skin when the strip is applied to the skin. If cream is visible then the light will not be able to reach the skin and perform an effective treatment.
- How do I clean my LUSTRE® ClearSkin devices?

After each treatment session the LUSTRE® adhesive strip should be removed and discarded. The LUSTRE® ClearSkin device should be cleaned using a moist cloth or cleansing wipe, a moist alcohol swab may also be used. Liquid of any description should not be allowed to enter the LUSTRE® ClearSkin device. Do not use or attach your LUSTRE® ClearSkin device to the main power supply if it has ever been exposed to liquid at any time as it is electrical equipment.

It depends on what skin concern you would like to take care of and your own skin type too.
With daily use, users will typically notice an improvement after just 30 days.
Whilst users typically see visible improvement of their skin, as well as improved skin tone and smoothness after 6 weeks.
- Is it safe to use LED light therapy while pregnant or breastfeeding?

LED light therapy has not been tested on pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, so we recommend that you do NOT use the device and/or check with your doctor or dermatologist.
- How do I start my first session?

Firstly, ensure the device is fully charged. Once it is, disconnect it and turn it on by holding the power button (located on the forehead) until indication LED turns solid.
Note: Always unplug the mask before use, the mask will not work while being charged.
Before your first session, perform a light sensitivity test:
1. Place the mask on the inner forearm. Switch on the mask for a full 10 minute cycle.
2. Don't look directly into the light, since it might be harmful to your eyes. Cautiousness is advised.
3. If your skin feels hot, unfomfortable, or itchy during the session stop immediately!
4. Wait until the session is fully completed. It will take 10 minutes to complete a full session.
5. The mask will automatically turn off after the session is completed. Remove the mask and wait for at least 6 hours.
Check your skin regularly over the six hours, if your skin appears red and/or itchy the mask is unsuitable for you. In the case of light sensitivity please contact your medical advisor or doctor.
Your first session:
Place LUSTRE® ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear comfortably over the face, securing the strap around head
You can then select your sessions in 2 ways:
1. Pressing the power button multiple times to select the right program: ENERGIZE (purple) or REVITALIZE (red)
2. Or customize your session using the LUSTRE® ClearSkin App.
The LUSTRE® ClearSkin App can be downloaded on both the App store and Google Play. Once downloaded open the app and create your account.
Session will last 10 minutes and will turn off automatically.
Don’t forget to clean your face before using LUSTRE® ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear and clean your mask gently with a slightly damp cloth after each use.
- Does my LUSTRE® ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear work without the app?

Yes. You can manually use your LUSTRE® ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear without using the app. However if you wish to personalize your session and target different areas on your face, you will need to ensure the mask is connected to the LUSTRE® Clearskin app.
To choose/change a full program without using the app, follow the instructions below:
• Power on the device by holding the switch on button ( located on the forehead of the mask) until the red indicator light is on
• Press the button once for REVITALIZE program
• Press it again for ENERGIZE program
• Switch off the device by holding down the switch off button until the indicator light turns off
